About the Role
This vacancy is for a Budget Analyst (Recent Graduate) in the National Telecommunications and Information Administration within the Department of Commerce.
What You'll Do
- →As a Budget Analyst (Recent Graduate), you will perform the following duties: Translates organizational needs and objectives, by line item and object class into budget dollars and the funding actions required to accomplish them.
- →Works with senior Budget Analysts to forecast budget operations and associated justifications on a regular predetermined cycle.
- →Provides information and assistance to program managers on matters such as the requirements and acceptability of routine budget documents in accordance with prescribed formats, templates and guidance.
- →Prepares background material for use in briefing officials as it relates to an organization's budget.
- →Provides guidance on budgeting and related information to conduct analyses, reviews and special studies of assigned areas of an organization's budget or related information.
- →Compiles narrative and statistical material to prepare supporting documentation concerning an assigned budget for use in briefing higher level officials.
- →Provides financial information to program managers to identify a need for reprogramming funds and make recommendations.
- →Assists in preparing supporting data, documentation, narrative and quantitative budget justification estimates and statements for supervisor review in accordance with operating procedures.
- →This Job Opportunity Announcement may be used to fill other Budget Analyst (Recent Graduate) GS-0560-9 FPL 12 positions within the Department of Commerce in the same geographical location with the same qualifications and specialized experience.
Requirements
- ✓Applicants must have completed, within the previous two-years, a qualifying associate's, bachelor's, master's, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution.
- ✓Exceptions are made for veterans, as defined in 5 USC 2108 , who, due to military service obligations, were precluded from applying to the Recent Graduate Program during the two-year eligibility period described above.
- ✓Veterans have a full two-year period of eligibility upon their release or discharge from active duty.
- ✓The eligibility period shall not extend beyond six years from the date of academic completion.
- ✓This position is being recruited with an opportunity for non-competitive conversion eligibility to a permanent OR term position upon completion of all Recent Graduate program requirements.
- ✓Conversion is not mandatory nor guaranteed (see Other Information).
- ✓You must be a U.S. citizen to apply for this position.
- ✓You must successfully pass a background investigation.
