About the Role

Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, U.S. Border Patrol, Del Rio Sector, Special Operations Detachment (SOD), located in Del Rio, TX. Additional selections may be made beyond the total number of vacancies specified using this vacancy announcement. Further selections may also be made for additional organizational divisions and/or units within the duty location(s) listed above.

What You'll Do

  • This position will allow you to use your expertise to prevent illegal entry of aliens into the United States by land, water, or air; enforce criminal provisions of the Immigration and Nationality Laws; and seek out and apprehend smugglers or aliens who are in the United States illegally.

  • This position starts at a salary of $91,985.00 (GS-12, Step 1) to $119,583.00 (GS-12, Step 10).
  • The Border Patrol Agent (BORSTAR Operator) serves as a primary law enforcement officer under 5 U.S.C. 8336(c) and 8412(d), duties and responsibilities include: Serving as an Operator for BORSTAR.
  • Resolving emergency situations and high-risk incidents while reducing the risk of loss of life or serious injury to officers, victims, or innocent third parties.
  • Providing responses to situations involving civil disturbances, hostage situations, high-risk warrant executions, tactical operations/situations, reconnaissance/surveillance services, civil emergencies (either man-made or natural disasters), and search and rescue operations.
  • Demonstrating a high level of skill in weaponry, self-defense, confrontation management, aquatics, rappelling, technical rescue, land navigation, law enforcement search and rescue, tracking, air operations, National Incident Management System (NIMS), emergency rescue procedures, tactical medical operations, and waterborne operations.
