About the Role
The Barista (FSW - Food Service Worker) position is located in the U. S. Naval Academy's Non-Appropriated Fund Instrumentality (NAFI), Naval Academy Business Services Division (NABSD) 1845 Coffee locations, and other satellite locations, Annapolis, Maryland. The Barista position provides the knowledge, skills, and adaptability necessary to multitask in diverse restaurant, catering, quick service, and café environments.
What You'll Do
- →Welcomes every guest, offer menu recommendations, and ensure every customer leaves satisfied with their experience.
- →Maintain speed and accuracy during peak hours to ensure minimal wait times.
- →Provide friendly, fast service while accurately entering orders and processing payments via the POS system.
- →Prepare high-quality espresso drinks, teas, and specialty beverages following house recipes and quality standards.
- →Handle, warm up, and serve pastries and light food items according to food safety protocols.
- →Keep the service areas, and guest seating clean, organized, and sanitized throughout the shift.
- →Clean and maintain espresso machines, grinders, and brewers to ensure longevity and flavor quality.
- →Monitor inventory levels and restock milk, beans, and paper goods as needed Other duties may include: Prepares coffee and tea beverages, sandwiches, fruit and vegetable salads, and box lunches.
- →Assists with preparation and execution of catering events, sets up food service counters, steam tables, dining room tables, and side service stands with hot and cold food.
- →Position involves prolonged standing, walking, reaching, stooping, pushing, pulling and bending.
- →Frequent light to moderate lifting of objects weighing up to 20 pounds occurs routinely, sometimes up to 50 pounds.
- →Uses assistance from other coworkers for moving objects weighing more than 20 pounds.
