About the Role
There is an anticipated vacancy for the position of ATTORNEY ADVISOR (GENERAL) in the JUDGE ADVOCATE DIVISION (JAD) of HQ US MARINE CORPS.
What You'll Do
- →You will serve as the primary professional attorney and policy proponent for the rules of professional conduct governing Marine Corps military and civilian lawyers, paralegals, and non-lawyer legal staff.
- →You will assess professional responsibility investigations, handle inquiries into alleged misconduct or mismanagement, coordinate appropriate notifications to state licensing authorities, and respond to third-party requests for information.
- →You will help manage and implement the Marine Corps ethics program, including the review and maintenance of public and confidential financial disclosure reports, oversight of general officer and spouse travel, and review of gifts to the Marine Corps.
- →You will provide frequent ethics counseling on gifts, conflicts of interest, post-government employment restrictions, relations with non-federal entities, outside activities, use of government resources, and attendance at non-federal events.
- →You will issue ethic reviews, consultations, and determinations on travel benefits from non-federal sources, gifts, waivers, cash or non-federal awards, conflicts of interest, and suspected ethics or procurement violations.
- →You will organize research, coordinate discovery and document production, support depositions, and help draft affidavits and legal documents for senior officials in civil, administrative, and ethics matters.
- →You will coordinate with Marine Corps, DoN, DoD, and other federal and professional bar organizations to ensure consistent and current ethics and professional responsibility policies and practices.
Requirements
- ✓The successful applicant must have graduated with a J.D. or LL.M. from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association, be an active member in good standing of the bar of the highest court of a State, U.S.
- ✓Commonwealth, U.S. territory, or the District of Columbia, and be admitted to practice before a state or federal court.
