About the Role
The United States Attorney's office serves the 40 northern counties of Ohio. Our office is responsible for enforcing federal criminal law, which includes a wide range of crimes dealing with national security, public corruption, civil rights, drug trafficking and firearms offenses, among others. Our office is actively engaged in the community, ensuring the rights of victims, working with schools, numerous law enforcement agencies to prevent crime and keep Northern Ohio safe.
What You'll Do
- →The United States Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Ohio is seeking an attorney with criminal litigation experience.
- →This vacancy will fill positions in our Cleveland, Youngstown, and Toledo offices.
- →AUSAs selected for positions in Youngstown, OH will be required to travel to Cleveland, Ohio for the first thirty days of employment, and this initial training period may be extended as necessary.
- →The Criminal Division is organized into six sections: General Crimes; White Collar Crimes; National Security; Violent Crimes; Narcotics/Organized Crime Drug Trafficking and Asset Recovery Team (DART); and Appellate.
- →Criminal Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSAs) prosecute federal criminal cases in the District.
- →Criminal AUSAs advise federal law enforcement agents on criminal investigations, present criminal cases to the grand jury, try criminal cases before the United States District Court, and represent the United States in criminal appeals before the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.
- →Candidates should be capable of handling a variety of significant and complex criminal prosecutions.

- →Security Requirements: Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory preemployment adjudication.

- →Residency Requirements: Assistant United States Attorneys generally must reside in the district to which he or she is appointed or within 25 miles thereof.
