About the Role

What You'll Do
- →As Assistant Commissioner, International Affairs, you will oversee the coordination and support of U.S.
- →Customs and Border Protection's (CBP's) foreign initiatives, policies, programs, and activities.
- →You will provide foreign assistance that supports the United States Government's objectives in: anti-terrorism, border security, non-proliferation, export control, immigration, capacity building, and the facilitation of legitimate trade and travel.
- →You will achieve these objectives by developing and maintaining collaborative relations with internal and external partners, including foreign governments; devising international strategies; advocating CBP positions in international forums; delivering international technical assistance and training; and supporting the negotiation of international agreements.
- →You will serve as a personal representative of the Commissioner of CBP in dealings with foreign governments that will have a major impact on CBP operations.
- →You will provide leadership and direction to all CBP international activities and programs and conduct CBP's bilateral and multilateral relations with other countries.
- →You will support activities related to the Immigration Security Initiative (ISI), focusing on detecting potential threats, inadmissible aliens, and fraudulent documents in foreign countries.
- →You will provide direction in managing the operations of CBP foreign attachés and advisory teams to improve, modernize, and standardize international trade facilitation and compliance.
- →You will oversee the negotiation and implementation of all international agreements and be responsible for all foreign training assistance provided by CBP.
- →You will work with foreign counterparts to further non-proliferation and combat international terrorism, narcotics trafficking, and other transnational crimes.
- →You will identify issues and develop policies that reflect and focus directly on CBP international goals and objectives.

Requirements
- ✓Must be a U.S.
- ✓All pre-employment processes will be conducted in English.
- ✓You may be required to pass a background investigation.
- ✓CBP follows the DHS Drug-Free Workplace Plan for drug testing procedures.
- ✓Subject to a 1-year supervisory probationary period (unless already completed).
- ✓Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.
- ✓If you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959, certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so.
- ✓May be subject to pre-employment and random drug tests.
- ✓File a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report OGE-278e within 30 days of appointment and annually from then on.
- ✓You may be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
- ✓Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- ✓Organizational and geographical mobility is essential in developing and managing SES leaders.
- ✓Individuals selected for SES positions may be subject to reassignment across geographical, organizational, and functional lines, and may be required to sign a Reassignment Rights and Obligation Agreement.
