The incumbent serves as the Assistant Chief Radiologic Technologist at the Hampton VA Health Care System. The radiology service provides comprehensive and complex radiographic and imaging programs. He/She has direct line supervisory responsibility for all Diagnostic Radiology Technologists, Medical Instrument Technologists, and Advanced Medical Support Specialists. The radiologic technology program includes a full variety of specialties.

- →VA Careers - Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist: https://youtube.com/embed/I-4ku5UMvWM Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional Duties include but not limited to: Directs and is responsible for the performance of the individual technologists in all modalities except general radiography within the department of Radiology in the absence of Chief Technologist.
- →Participates in the management of human resources for the department including selection, promotion, performance appraisal, and award/promotion system.
- →Provides written support and documentation for recommendations to Service Chief for final approval.
- →Coordinates the integration of the Radiology Department functions with other departments and aspects of overall patient care.
- →Works with nursing and other clinical supervisors in addressing radiology service issues and to support the maintenance of high-quality patient care.
- →Communicate with Chief Technologist, and/or Service Chief of Radiology, regularly, regarding ongoing and occasional occurrences in relationship to clinical and operational issues of the Radiology Department and outside of the immediate department.
- →Conducts both customer and employee satisfaction surveys; shares results with staff; and develops action plans to improve results as necessary.
- →Serves as the first line Patient Representative for resolution of patient care issues or customer complaints.
- →Directs and coordinates the purchase and inventory of radiology supplies; actively participates in the maintenance of the generic inventory package (GIP) for all supplies used in the Radiology Department.
- →Participates in the compilation and analysis of data on departmental activities and prepares related reports for the Chief Technologist.
- →Assists with the analysis and updating of DSS and CPT code data relevant to technologists and supplies.
- →Assists in the analysis and improvement of exams and wait times.
- →Ensures monitoring of all activities within the radiology sections and takes appropriate action to ensure their efficient and effective operation.
- →Assures adequate technologist staffing for all sections on all shifts.
