About the Role

This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. ARTs are part of the regular career civil service and enjoy all the benefits granted to Federal employees in the competitive civil service. In addition, ARTs are required to maintain their active membership in the AF Reserve unit where assigned. ARTs receive on average one weekend of military training per month. What You'll Do

  • The primary purpose of this position is: To serve as an Air Reserve Technician (ART) to test, troubleshoot, repair and modify aircraft fuel distribution systems, repair leaks of external/integrated tanks, and provide training to reservists in the accomplishment of tasks set forth therein.
  • DUTIES: DUTY 1: Receives work document(s) or oral instructions regarding problems with aircraft fuel system.
  • Troubleshoots integral fuel tanks, using leak path analysis and other test procedures such as pressure checks, vacuum checks, dye injection checks, helium and argon gas checks, etc., to determine the source of fuel leaks.
  • DUTY 2: Troubleshoots integral fuel tanks, using leak path analysis and other test procedures such as pressure checks, vacuum checks, dye injection checks, helium and argon gas checks, etc., to determine the source of fuel leaks.
  • DUTY 3: Troubleshoots fuel Tanks to determine location of leaks.
  • Accomplishes modifications and prepares components for storage or shipment.
  • DUTY 4: In performing duties uses a variety of common hand tools, combustible and toxic gas indicators, torque wrenches, leak detectors, pressure gauges, manometers, powered tools such as drills and pneumatic wrenches; also, operates AGE such as blowers, filters, vacuum cleaners, heaters, air conditioners, fire extinguishers, etc.
  • DUTY 5: Prepares effective training plans to maximize Reserve training.
  • Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work area.
