What You'll Do
- →The purpose of this position is to act as an aircraft mechanic with responsibility for certifying airworthiness and managing the operational readiness of one or more aircraft, and proficiency training of supported aviation unit personnel.
- →This position is responsible for the following duties: Manages, monitors or performs overall maintenance within the CAMP and FAA framework, servicing, inspections and documentation for one or more highly technical, high performance UH-72A military aircraft.
- →Performs work in complex conditions under time and/or mission constraints to include all weather and night operations.
- →Trains, coordinates, and oversees the work of Non-Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) aircraft mechanics.
- →Provides mentorship for those journey level workers pursuing A&P certification.
- →Certifies completion of maintenance tasks of non A&P mechanics and certifies the work of journey level workers in other trades working on the assigned aircraft.
- →Certifies aircraft as airworthy before being released for flight.
- →Performs ground checks and assists functional check pilots with in flight functional check procedures.
- →Performs damage assessments and repairs.
- →Participates in mission preparation and recovery operations.
- →Oversees installation of equipment for special missions.
- →Expedites UH-72A aircraft operations to include concurrent servicing, refueling, and/or reconfiguration of equipment for changes in operational missions.
- →Performs preflight, thru flight, and post-flight inspections and scheduled or unscheduled maintenance.
- →Serves as the technical authority to identify and advise on requirements for airframe, mechanical, electrical/environmental, avionics, engine, and pneudraulic repairs on assigned aircraft.
Requirements
- ✓NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED.

- ✓This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
- ✓Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
- ✓Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
- ✓Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
- ✓Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
- ✓Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
- ✓May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
- ✓Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
- ✓Must be able to obtain a Secret Security Clearance within one year of appointment.
- ✓The incumbent must possess/obtain within 12 months of position selection, an A&P certificate issued by the FAA per CFR Title 14, part 65, subpart D.
- ✓The incumbent may be required to maintain NGB Non-Aviator Flying Status and qualified for Class III flying duties.
- ✓You must provide transcripts or other documentation to support your Educational claims.
