About the Role

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a AIRCRAFT MECHANIC CREW CHIEF, Position Description Number D1063000 and is part of the ME DCSAV, National Guard.

What You'll Do

  • This position is located in the Logistics function of an ARNG Army Aviation Support Facility (AASF).
  • The AASF provides Aviation Unit Maintenance (AVUM), Aviation Intermediate Maintenance (AVIM), and aviation maintenance training for supported units.
  • The purpose of this position is to act as the Aircraft Mechanic (Crew Chief) with responsibility for managing the operational readiness of one or more aircraft, and proficiency training of supported aviation unit personnel.
  • Responsibilities include detailed technical oversight of individual aircraft's level of mission capabilities and projection of maintenance requirements to maintain individual aircraft operational readiness.
  • This position requires military membership.
  • It is designated for an ARNG Enlisted incumbent only.
  • In accordance with DA Pamphlet 611-21, the incumbent performs duties necessary to accomplish Aircraft Mechanic (Crew Chief) functions in support of programs essential to state ARNG daily operations, training, and readiness missions.
  • DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: -- Manages, monitors or performs overall maintenance, servicing, inspections and documentation for one or more highly technical, high performance military aircraft.
  • Performs work in complex conditions under time and/or mission constraints to include all weather and night operations.
  • Works with, coordinates and oversees the work of lower graded aircraft mechanics and certifies the work of journey level workers in other trades working on the assigned aircraft.
  • Performs damage assessments and repairs.
  • Participates in mission preparation and recovery operations.
  • Oversees installation of equipment for special missions.
  • Expedites aircraft operations to include concurrent servicing, refueling, and/or reconfiguration of equipment for changes in operational missions.
