About the Role
THIS IS A TITLE 32 DUAL STATUS POSITION DUTY LOCATION: Theater Aviation Sustainment Maintenance Group (TASMG), Groton, CT AREA(S) OF CONSIDERATION: Area 1: All currently employed full-time permanent and indefinite personnel of the Connecticut Army National Guard. Area 2: All currently employed full-time temporary technician personnel and all current traditional members of the Connecticut Army National Guard.
What You'll Do
- →JOB SUMMARY: The purpose of this position is to conduct inspections and evaluations of a variety of Army aircraft inclusive of the different systems, subsystems, components and parts thereof.
- →NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED.
- →This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the Connecticut Army National Guard.
- →The major duties include, but are not limited to: Inspects and evaluates aircraft and components for the purpose of determining the depth and scope of the necessary repair, overhaul and/or modification required to return such aircraft or components to a serviceable condition.
- →Performs in-process and final inspections of aircraft and components undergoing repair, overhaul and/or modification, to verify and certify by signature adherence to work techniques, procedures and quality standards established by applicable publications.
- →Reviews and checks aircraft forms and records for accuracy and completeness.
- →Provides technical assistance and expertise on aircraft maintenance and quality control matters to AASF maintenance and supported units.
- →Prepares formal reports for crash damaged aircraft, outlining parts and material required to repair such aircraft as well as forecasting labor requirements to accomplish needed repair or overhaul.
- →WORKING CONDITIONS: Works inside and outside, in inclement weather, on icy, wet and slippery ramps and work-stands in temperature and humidity extremes.
- →Work areas may be drafty, noisy and have toxic fumes present.
- →Irritants such as aircraft fluids, dirt, grease, dust, paint and solvents may be present.
- →Exposure to cuts, burns, shock, strains and broken bones exists.
- →PHYSICAL EFFORT: Required to climb, stand, stoop, bend, stretch and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
- →Frequently, lifts parts and equipment weighing up to 20 pounds.
