About the Role
IOWA ARMY NATIONAL GUARD - TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION This position is open to current on-board Title 5 and Title 32 AASF 2 employees of the Iowa Army National Guard. Military membership is required. LOCATION: AASF 2, Waterloo, IA
What You'll Do
- →As a AIRCRAFT FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR, GS-2181-13 your duties are below.
- →Plans and implements flight training and instruction for rated pilots and instructor pilots in accordance with the Aircrew Training Manual (ATM).
- →Adjusts course material to meet individual needs.
- →Conducts training flights involving operating an aircraft through reference to instruments and use of automatic direction finding equipment such as Omni directional radials, ground control approach and instrument landing systems on and off Federal airways.
- →Conducts refresher, mission and continuation combat training in advanced attack helicopters involving aggressor and defensive maneuvers and aerial gunnery practice with heavy ordinance and/or trains and instructs pilots in the operation of heavy multi-engine transport helicopters to transport equipment and personnel in combat situations.
- →Trains pilots in the full range of aircraft maneuvers required in combat situations.
- →Provides instruction in emergency procedures such as loss of propulsion, directional control or related systems.
- →Performs flights in all weather/environmental conditions, day and night, and using night vision devices.
- →Prepares and presents related classroom instruction.
- →Recommends whether pilots remain in flight status.
- →Conducts refresher, mission and continuation training in light fixed wing or utility and observer helicopters.
- →Trains pilots in basic and advanced techniques required to support the Pilot's unit mission.
- →Performs routine operational flight assignments.
- →Transports passengers including dignitaries to and from a variety of different points.
Requirements
- ✓NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted position that requires military membership in a compatible military assignment in the Iowa Army National Guard.
- ✓Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
- ✓Acceptance of this excepted position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.

- ✓SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT: Employment is subject to attaining and maintaining a clearance as required by this position.
- ✓If the selectee does not possess the applicable security clearance when hired, application must be made within 30 days of the start date.
- ✓Failure to make application for the required security clearance will result in termination of employment.
- ✓Failure to complete prescribed courses may be cause for reassignment or termination of FTS.
- ✓Must have Federal Aviation Administration certifications awarded from accredited civilian aviation programs or must have aviation certifications from accredited military aviation schools.
- ✓Military Rank Requirements: WARRANT OFFICERS (CW2 - CW5) Must have a high school diploma or general education development (GED) diploma.
- ✓An undergraduate degree from an accredited college/university is optimum.
- ✓Must have Federal Aviation Administration certifications awarded from accredited civilian aviation programs or must have aviation certifications from accredited military aviation schools.
