About the Role

This position is for a AIRCRAFT FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR, PD# D0646000, part of the Nevada Army National Guard. The position is responsible for providing instruction, evaluation and examination of rated pilots, instructor pilots and aero scout observers in flying techniques and methods of instruction, examination and evaluation. Instruction involves basic and advanced techniques for flying aircraft using instruments.

What You'll Do

  • Plans and implements flight training and instruction for rated pilots and instructor pilots in accordance with individual needs.
  • Conducts training flights involving operation of an aircraft by reference to instruments and use of automatic direction-finding equipment, such as omnidirectional radials, ground-control approach, and instrument landing systems on and off Federal airways.
  • Conducts refresher, mission, and continuation combat training in advanced attack helicopters involving aggressor and defensive maneuvers and aerial gunnery practice with heavy ordnance and/or trains and instructs pilots in the operation of heavy multi-engine transport helicopters to transport equipment and personnel in combat situations.
  • Trains pilots in the full range of aircraft maneuvers required in combat situations.
  • Provides instruction in emergency procedures, such as loss of propulsion, directional control, or related systems.
  • Performs flights in all weather/environmental conditions, day and night, and using night vision devices.
  • Prepares and presents related classroom instruction.
  • Recommends whether pilots remain in flight status.
  • May conduct refresher, mission, and continuation training in light fixed-wing or utility and observer helicopters.
  • Trains pilots in basic and advanced techniques required to support the pilot's unit mission.
  • Performs routine operational flight assignments.
  • Transports passengers, including dignitaries, to and from a variety of different points.
  • As required, performs maintenance test flights of aircraft following repair or maintenance.
  • Advises and represents the Commander on all matters concerning aviation/ground safety related to the facility.

Requirements

  • MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • In compliance with Title 32 United States Code, the compatible military skill set is determined by the applicable service manpower requirements.
  • Upon selection, individuals are assigned to the authorized position and its compatible military skill in accordance with Army skill classification directives, statutes, and National Guard Bureau regulations.
  • The Dual Status technician must obtain and maintain all military skill requirements in regard to training, education, certifications, experience.

  • You are responsible to maintain awareness of your environmental responsibilities as dictated by legal and regulatory requirements, your organization, and its changing mission. - For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license.
  • Must have a high school diploma or general education development (GED) diploma.
  • You must provide transcripts or other documentation to support your Training/Educational claims.
  • To receive credit for Training/Education, you must provide documentation of proof that you meet the Training/Education requirements for this position.
