About the Role

This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. ARTs are part of the regular career civil service and enjoy all the benefits granted to Federal employees in the competitive civil service. In addition, ARTs are required to maintain their active membership in the AF Reserve unit where assigned. ARTs receive on average one weekend of military training per month. What You'll Do

  • Determine when the nature and scope of repair involves other trades, e.g., aircraft mechanics, electricians, electronics mechanics, sheet metal/structural repair or integrated systems mechanics and coordinate the work of these individuals with the other trades.
  • Serves as technical authority to perform/coordinate/oversee troubleshooting and analysis of gas turbine engines to determine air worthiness of propulsion systems installed on aircraft on the flight-line and uninstalled in back shop and test cell capacities.
  • Coordinates, oversees and performs the disassembly, repair, overhaul, inspection and reassembly of aircraft propulsion systems, sub-assemblies, and components.
  • Maintain, inspect, operate and certify test cell and hush house.
  • Skilled/certified in the operation and maintenance of diagnostic test equipment, on-board electronic equipment, a variety of special equipment, hand, measurement and power tools.
  • Removes or installs entire propulsion systems from/on aircraft, test cell and maintenance stand working as a member or leader of a team.
  • Enforces and complies with safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work area.
  • Perform Engine Health Management (EHM) program duties and properly document propulsion system maintenance in historical records and the Maintenance Information System (MIS).
  • Certify, utilize and enforce the work produced under the USAF Technical Order Program and applicable commercial aircraft/propulsion manuals.
  • Prepares effective training plans to maximize training for assigned personnel.
