This vacancy is for an Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic in the Office of Facilities and Environmental Quality within the Department of Commerce. In this position, you will serve as a master Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic responsible for the installation, operation, maintenance, adjustment, and repair of non-standard and highly advanced heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, associated fixtures, controls, and equipment in the Herbert C. Hoover Building (HCHB).
What You'll Do
- →As an Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic, you will perform the following duties: Operates, maintains, and troubleshoots specialized equipment, ensuring optimal performance, energy efficiency, and user satisfaction.
- →Installs, modifies, maintains, and repairs a variety of building HVAC systems, including the Chilled Water Production Facility in the HCHB.
- →Develops and implements preventative maintenance programs for building HVAC systems, ensuring the reliability and longevity of equipment and infrastructure.
- →Tracks, schedules, and documents all installation, maintenance, and repair activities, ensuring efficient work order management and accurate recordkeeping.
- →Collaborates with other departments and contractors on projects requiring HVAC system expertise, ensuring proper integration of building systems into the overall building design and operation.
- →Conducts regular inspections and assessments of building HVAC systems to identify potential hazards, maintenance issues, or performance improvements, and develops corrective action plans as needed.
