About the Role
The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse - Urology/Surgery provides comprehensive nursing care for the patient in the Urology clinic and procedure room. They effectively function independently as the Coordinator for Urology patients undergoing Urology and/or carrying a urological disorder diagnosis.
What You'll Do
- →The Advanced Practice RN - Urology/Surgery is responsible for assisting with organizing the surgical schedule for urology patients, ensuring that proper work-up is complete prior to surgery, and provides pre-operative and post-operative care and patient coordination.
- →Major Duties Include, but are not limited to: Ensures that all equipment and supplies are in a complete state of readiness for the desired procedure in urology clinic and procedure room.
- →Mentors and teaches other Nurse Practitioners, NP students, and NP residents while they are assigned to Urology and the Urology clinic.
- →Ensures that hospital policies and protocols are complied with for all procedures.
- →Responsible for conducting peri-procedural patient and family education, utilizing the nurse process for assessment, evaluation and treatment of the patient across the continuum surrounding the patient's procedure.
- →Completes treatments for the patients according to the patient's needs including but not limited to intravenous, respiratory, and any other treatment to assure the patient is hemodynamically stable.
- →All other duties as assigned, pertaining to this occupation, to meet the needs of the Agency, Department, Facility, and/or Service.

Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.

- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓English Language Proficiency.
- ✓In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(f), no person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.

- ✓Must pass pre-employment physical evaluation.
- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
