About the Role
The Advanced Practice Nurse Certified Nurse Anesthetist (CNA) Chief is a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) who is distinguished by educational range, clinical experience, collaborative skills, is the first line supervisor and has administrative responsibility for nurse anesthesia staff.
What You'll Do
- →The CRNA Chief practices to the full extent of their education, training, and certification.
- →Core functions are outlined in the clinical privileges or scope of practice that correspond with this position and determined locally within the limits of the individual's state license and the local Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) bylaws.
- →The CRNA provides advanced clinical practice, consultation, management, and leadership.
- →The CRNA Chief will have four years of CRNA progressively responsible assignments in clinical, administrative, education and/or research related to CRNA practice, one of which is specialized experience equivalent to the APN (CNA) Ill grade level.
- →At this level, emphasis is placed on strategic planning, administrative responsibilities and performs long and short-term planning goals for their anesthesia department.
- →Virtual: This is not a virtual position.

- →Permanent Change of Station (PCS): Not Authorized
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.
- ✓Selected applicants will be required to complete an online onboarding process.
- ✓Acceptable form(s) of identification will be required to complete pre-employment requirements (https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/form-i-9-acceptable-documents).
- ✓Effective May 7, 2025, driver's licenses or state-issued identification cards that are not REAL ID compliant cannot be utilized as an acceptable form of identification for employment.
- ✓Must pass pre-employment physical examination.
- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
- ✓You may be required to serve a probationary period.
