About the Role
The incumbent practices in Oncology Service as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) to provide a full range of services emphasizing quality, timeliness, and the advancement of the Veterans Affairs (VA) mission. The NP provides advanced clinical practice, consultation, and management. The NP practices to the full extent of their education, training, and certification.
What You'll Do
- →Duties include but are not limited to: Providing clinical care for veterans with diagnoses of genitourinary malignancy both in person at the Seattle campus as well as providing telehealth at other VA Puget Sound Health Care System campuses (American Lake, Silverdale, Everett).
- →Determining whether the requests and the clinical history of the veteran make genetic and genomic testing appropriate.
- →Interacting with veterans who have been identified as appropriate and interested in genetic testing to provide additional information prior to testing.
- →Ordering germline and somatic NGS testing for veterans deemed appropriate, including veterans within VISN20 who are not in the immediate VA Puget Sound catchment.
- →Communicating with veterans regarding follow-up for sample acquisition.
- →Coordinating provision of testing results to patients and their providers.
- →Making veterans and families aware of resources available for genetic counseling and cascade testing both within and outside of VA.
- →Facilitating upload of clinical reports into the electronic medical record where the tested veteran receives care.
- →Timely documentation in the patient records, maintenance of records, logs and preparation of reports, documents, statistical surveys and other data as required in various patient settings in the VA Puget Sound Health Care System.
- →Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00AM to 4:30PM.

Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓English Language Proficiency.
- ✓In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(f), no person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.
- ✓Selected applicants will be required to complete an online onboarding process.
- ✓Acceptable form(s) of identification will be required to complete pre-employment requirements (https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/form-i-9-acceptable-documents).
- ✓Effective May 7, 2025, driver's licenses or state-issued identification cards that are not REAL ID compliant cannot be utilized as an acceptable form of identification for employment.
- ✓Must pass pre-employment physical examination.
- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
