About the Role
The incumbent practices in the Oncology Service as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) to provide a full range of services emphasizing quality, timeliness, and the advancement of the VA mission. The NP provides advanced clinical practice, consultation, and management. The NP practices to the full extent of their education, training, and certification. The NP has prescriptive authority for a panel of patients or program as indicated by their position
What You'll Do
- →Duties include but not limited to: Independently manages a panel of cancer patients with acute and chronic health conditions with an emphasis on treatment, health promotion and disease prevention using evidence-based practice Work with physicians in the VAPSHCS Hematology Oncology Section to develop and implement individualized plans to achieve disease management and surveillance strategies.
- →Work collaboratively with Primary Care Team and other interdisciplinary team members towards patient specific goals.
- →Orders follow up and communicate diagnostic studies and results to patients and the hematology-oncology care team.
- →Prescribes non-oncologic pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions.
- →Initiates referrals/consults to specialty services Provides education to patients and their families Assesses and adjusts the plan of care with hematology-oncology physicians as needed to achieve optimal patient outcomes Lead the site care team and organize clinical care procedures, practice and work-flow within the clinic.

Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.

- ✓Effective May 7, 2025, driver's licenses or state-issued identification cards that are not REAL ID compliant cannot be utilized as an acceptable form of identification for employment.
- ✓Must pass pre-employment physical evaluation/examination.
- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
