The Advanced Medical Support Assistant (AMSA) position is assigned to the Call Center in Health Administration Service (HAS) and serves as administrative support within the Phoenix VA Health Care System. This position is located at: 650 East Indian School Road, Phoenix, AZ, 85012
What You'll Do
- →Typical duties include, but are not limited to: The AMSA is responsible for scheduling appointments, including interpreting and verifying provider orders in accordance with VHA national scheduling guidelines.
- →Conducting inbound and outbound phone calls to obtain required information to determine patient needs.
- →Managing follow-up care for Return to Clinic orders, consults, tests, etc.
- →Verifying and updating demographics and insurance information (ICB)..
- →Monitoring pre-appointment information, assuring readiness for the patient visit/procedure.
- →Managing patient systems to verify and validate accuracy and resolve concerns.
- →Ensuring encounter forms are completed in order to obtain appropriate workload credit.
- →Providing excellent customer service and assists in providing front line resolution, when applicable.
- →Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; Duty hours TBD.

- →When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).
- →Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year).
- →Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience.
Requirements
