About the Role

This position is in the Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration, Veterans Healthcare System of the Ozarks, Environmental Management Service (EMS) Fayetteville, Arkansas. The primary purpose is to provide support for administrative activities internal and external to the service. Assists in the activities between the EMS Supervisors, Laundry Supervisors, local contractors, Supply Chain Management, Fiscal, and various other managers, as well as upper management.

What You'll Do

  • Duties include but are not limited to: Composes correspondence, reports, memoranda, agendas and meeting minutes, schedules, and program materials.
  • Utilizes knowledge of computer and database applications to update and maintain data and program information.
  • Performs all necessary administrative support functions to include receiving and screening calls and visitors to the office, receiving and reviewing all incoming correspondence and preparing replies to general inquiries and routine actions.
  • Determines routine actions or issues requiring supervisors' attention and refers the items to the appropriate staff members based on the subject matter experience required.
  • Maintains all office files to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory guidance.
  • Receives and distributes all office mail to include special handling, such as certified, registered, or express mail.
  • Assists Administrative Officer with technical and administrative work related to recruitment packages and the Resource Management Committee.
  • Serves as secondary control point clerk for the fund control points (FCPs) of the service and complies with all acquisition regulations, as well as all federal VA and local policies and procedures to support the organizations mission and needs.
  • Arranges travel and itineraries for the unit.
  • Identifies program problems and answers questions based on technical knowledge and makes recommendations which are consistent with the objectives and requirements of the travel program.
  • Serves as an additional Contracting Officer Representative (COR) Level 1 and will secondarily be responsible for the management $30 million worth of service contracts within the EMS Department.
  • Serves as the Administrative Talent Management System (TMS) Education Coordinator for the service.
  • Possesses strong oral and written communication skills, the ability to relate positively to management and employees at all levels.
