About the Role

The position of CBOC Service Administrative Officer (AO) reports directly to the Chief, CBOC Service at Allentown CBOC and plays a critical role in the overall function of the CBOCs. VA Medical Center CBOCs are located in Allentown, Bangor, Columbia County, Williamsport, Honesdale, Sayre, Tobyhanna. Travel to these locations may be required.

What You'll Do

  • This position requires substantial skills and knowledge of management principles and concepts, program analysis and process improvement techniques, budget analysis, cost accounting management, management planning, and public relations.
  • This position requires substantial knowledge of the principles of healthcare and business administration and related Federal statutes, regulations, and procedures as well as Veterans Affairs organizational structure, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • The incumbent must possess strong analytical ability and be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • He/she must be able to interpret policies, statutes and regulations and write policies and procedures related to providing health care.
  • Incumbent supports administrative management duties within the CBOC Service, to include the draft of policies, plans (strategic and equipment) for review, standard operating procedures, data documents for process improvement and other written memorandums to define administrative requirements and clinical process.
  • Incumbent is responsible for the overall day-to-day oversight of all CBOC Service clinics.
  • Incumbent provides oversight for daily operations, compliance, problem solving, staffing, customer service, and reporting spanning all program areas.
  • Conducts management studies to collect data on patient demand and workload trends.
  • Estimates and computes workloads projections through established formulas and guidelines.
  • Coordinates the preparation and submission of recurring monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, management briefings, summaries, and a wide variety of non-recurring reports.
  • The incumbent participates in all accrediting body and systematic internal reviews related to CBOC Service, making suggestions on ways to improve overall management and functioning based on those reviews.
  • Works with management to formulate, direct and develop policies for CBOC Service program management.
  • Evaluates circumstances, and develops, refines, or revises operational procedures as needed.
  • Responsible for providing management advisory services on all aspects of improving care for CBOC related programs at the Medical Center.
