About the Role

The Administrative Officer serves as the coordinator for all administrative aspects of the Audiology and Speech Pathology Service (ASPS). This position is located at the James A. Haley Veterans' Hospital and Clinics (JAHVH). The incumbent serves as assistant to the Chief, ASPS to manage financial and human resources, personnel actions, internal control, logistics, budget, and general administration (including back-up clinic scheduling via ISS).

What You'll Do

  • Duties include but are not limited to: Provides a variety of management services essential to the direction, operation, and functioning of the Audiology and Speech Pathology Service (ASPS).
  • Coordinates the diverse administrative functions of this position, including personnel/manpower management, contracting, financial management, logistics/supply management, operations, and other related administrative functions.
  • Provides and secures resources and services required to manage and execute the functional responsibilities of the service.
  • Coordinates assigned functions with the Chief and supervisors to discuss work-related changes affecting their area and provides authoritative recommendations for improvement to implement.
  • Assists management in developing, maintaining, and improving management methods and procedures and the overall effective utilization of personnel and resources.
  • Assists management in identifying long- and short-term resource requirements and potential problem areas.
  • Provides and prepares reports, data, and materials for the Chief or executive leadership briefings on issues pertaining to the area of responsibility.
  • Acts as the ASPS spokesperson concerning administrative functions with facility management, the VISN, the National Program Office, and other pertinent organizations.
  • Must have knowledge of information technology, VistA, and the planning and acquisition process for additional hardware and software for the ASPS service.
  • Serves as the ASPS Automated Data Processing Application Coordinator (ADPAC) and assigns remote order entry (ROES) to staff.
  • Coordinates the preparation of all SF-52s (Request for Personnel Action).
  • Reviews all SF-50s (Notification of Personnel Action) for accuracy of information and to ensure proper execution of personnel budget.
  • Serves as Service Administrator for the Talent Management System (TMS).
  • Ensures that all ASP Service personnel are aware of educational opportunities offered and attend appropriate annual mandatory training.
