The position functions as the Administrative Officer for the Executive Leadership under the Office of Director of the San Francisco VA Health Care System (SFVAHCS). Primary responsibilities include supervising, coordinating workflow, prioritizing tasks, and redirecting Administrative Support Assistants based on priorities. The employee will perform administrative functions that include budget, finance, space planning, property management, supply, and general administration management.
What You'll Do
- →Major duties include: Directs all administrative activities of the Service including budget and financial management, human resource management, strategic planning and program management and evaluation, assuring that the clinical and administrative functions are integrated in order to provide optimum utilization of resources.
- →Serves as a key member of the service leadership team, actively participating in the development of overall management objectives and philosophies necessary for the attainment of optimum efficiency in providing health care to our veteran population.
- →Provides input, advice and counsel for planning, programming, budgeting and general administration of all service units and programs.
- →Manages a large, diverse program that provides health care services essential to the mission of this Health Care System.
- →Establishes objectives congruent with and reflective of the philosophy and objectives of the Health Care System, Veterans Integrated Service Network, and Veterans Health Administration.
- →Develops long-range and short-term goals and programs required to meet stated objectives.
- →Implements and manages programs that affect service, facility, and regional operations adding value to existing processes.
- →Formulates policies and operating procedures, ensuring compliance with VA regulations, statutes and the standards and requirements of various internal and external review bodies.
- →Assesses the impact of regional, national, and private-sector developments as they relate to the local program, making change recommendations accordingly.
- →Coordinates and expands use of all pertinent resources available for patient care, developing and utilizing extensive community relationships/partnerships with individuals, health providers, foundations, and external support services.
- →Provides advice and assistance to managers and staff concerning Federal and organization's personnel processes and procedures.
- →Assists the Executive Office and leadership in projecting staffing needs, writing position descriptions, developing job analyses, preparing performance plans and appraisals.
- →Processes training requests, and draft disciplinary and adverse action.
- →Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level (GS-11) without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met.
