About the Role
This position serves as the Chief of Administration/Business Manager for the organization assigned. Open to the first 100 applicants or until 06/29/2026 whichever comes first. All applications submitted by 11:59 (EST) on the closing day will receive consideration.
What You'll Do
- →The major duties of the Administrative Officer (AO) position include, but are not limited to, the following: Serve as the lead for the Pueblo Parks Shared Services that supports Bandelier National Monument and Valles Caldera National Preserve in administrative, human resources, and information technology functions.
- →Serve on the leadership team of both Bandelier and Valles Caldera to help plan, analyze, and monitor the formulation and development of complex and/or highly sensitive park-wide plans, programs, procedures, operating policies, and internal controls.
- →Supervise a budget analyst, information technology specialist, administrative operations specialist (HR), and administrative assistant (property and general admin); and indirectly oversee four additional support staff.
- →Work closely with the regional Servicing Human Resources Office (SHRO) and Major Acquisition Buying Office.
- →Foster teamwork and good relationships between programs and among the administrative staff that supports both parks.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship required.
- ✓Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
- ✓Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males.
- ✓Complete the initial online assessment and USAHire Assessment, if required.
- ✓Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program.
- ✓Any individual who is currently holding, or has held within the previous 52 weeks, a General Schedule position under non-temporary appointment in the competitive or excepted service, must meet time-in-grade requirements (must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent in the Federal service); with few exceptions as outlined in 5 CFR 300.603(b).
- ✓Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal civilian employees applying for reinstatement who have had a break in service of less than one year, as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointments.
- ✓Time-in-grade does not apply to new excepted service appointments.
- ✓Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
- ✓You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards.
- ✓A uniform allowance will be provided.
- ✓You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work.
- ✓You may be required to travel overnight away from home up to 1 nights per month.
- ✓You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes.
