About the Role
The Birmingham VA Medical Center is currently recruiting for an Administrative Officer to work in Anesthesia Service.
What You'll Do
- →Duties include, but are limited to: Train residents, fellows and medical students on the INNOVIAN Anesthesia Electronic Record Keeping System and help them obtain all necessary security clearances.
- →Plan and implement management directives.
- →Initiate the resolution of problems relating to resident orientation through coordination with the UAB residency office and analyze and formulate plans to trouble shoot recurring problems relating to residency education.
- →Coordinate the application process for adding extra VA anesthesiology residency positions as need arises through coordination between UAB graduate medical education and BVAMC education service.
- →Provide current and accurate workload analysis and percentage effort for all anesthesia providers including the formulation of new and update of expiring Medical Center Memorandums (MCM) relating to anesthesia.
- →Conduct studies of manpower, space, equipment, other resource utilization and coordinates with other disciplines within the institution or outside the institution.
- →Keep equipment inventory current, will evaluate new technology and help with competitive bidding process to procure new equipment relating to anesthesia service.
- →Collect, interpret and implement plans in coordination with systems redesign officer to improve and maintain operating room efficiency and throughout.
- →Help coordination with various VA and fee basis physicians to coordinate the schedule for 24/7 in house coverage for airway management and emergency procedures after hours.
- →Will assist in the recruiting and credentialing process of various VA and fee basis anesthesia providers and complete special projects and tasks assigned by the Chief of Anesthesiology Service.
- →Monitor moderate sedation throughout the facility and adverse events relating to anesthesia for quality assurance and compliance purposes.
- →Serve as the approving official for computer access AAR, pay certification and over time, and part time physician ESRs and remedy requests entered by the service secretary.
- →Serve on several medical center committees as appointed by the anesthesia service chief including but not limited to: the operating room committee, the operative and invasive procedure committee and the operating room efficiency committee, and act in various capacities including member, ex-officio or as representative of the anesthesia service chief.
- →Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7am- 3:30pm.
