The Wildlife Biologist serves as staff biologist interacting in a technical and representational capacity with USDA/APHIS Veterinary Services, Marketing and Regulatory Programs, U.S. Department of Interior, International Services, tribal councils, state wildlife and agricultural departments, and numerous universities and other organizations on issues involving emergency response, research, and disease monitoring.
What You'll Do
- →The duties may include, but are not limited to: Provides technical expertise, advice, and support for the National Wildlife Disease Program (NWDP), regarding disease activities related to emergency response, and disease surveillance.
- →Oversight and management of disease projects include the design, implementation, and review of projects.
- →Serves on scientific advisory panels and boards, and at the request of the Program Manager, represents the National Disease Program on various emergency preparedness and response assignments.
- →Develops training programs for WS personnel and cooperating state and federal agency personnel working on wildlife disease activities.
- →Determine the types of logistical and personnel support for wildlife disease and emergency management activities.
- →Develops and maintains documents required by NWDP, prepares required scientific and administrative reports, and provides technical guidance to biologists technicians, and students.
- →Provides general and technical supervision and consultation on emergency management problems relating to assigned commodity area.
