What You'll Do

  • As a Wildland Firefighter (Fuels Management) - Direct Hire Authority your duties will include but are not limited to the following: Serves as a Service-wide expert in the development and implementation of hazardous fuels programs.
  • Develops new policy guidance and reviews existing Departmental and Bureau policy guidance and operational procedures to evaluate overall effectiveness in meeting Bureau objectives at the regional or state level.
  • Serves as a wildland fuels management program expert and technically advises unit, tribal, state, or regional office managers and key staff members.
  • Formulates, develops, and drafts new policy and procedural guides and ensures awareness and appropriate usage of new departmental and bureau policies.
  • Supports development and review of annual Fuels Management Programs of Work (POW) for Geographic Areas.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S.
  • Citizen or National.
  • Suitability for Federal employment, as determined by background investigation.
  • Direct Deposit Required.

  • Selectee must hold and maintain a valid state driver's license throughout their employment in this position.
  • A condition of employment for accepting this position, you will be required to serve a [1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period] during which your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest will be evaluated.

  • You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work.
