About the Role

The VISN Chief Supply Chain Officer (VCSCO) plans, coordinates, interacts with, and evaluates the logistical and supply chain management actions required to support the VISN health care operations. The incumbent plays an essential leadership role in developing and executing logistics and the supply chain system that integrates and aligns acquisition, delivery, and management of supplies, equipment, and services to accomplish the VISN's core mission - delivering health care and patient safety.

What You'll Do

  • Duties may include, but are not limited to: Oversees and manages strategic planning, auditing, quality assurance, and program compliance and oversight of all SCM programs and inspections as well as various activities designed to enhance the mission of the affected VISN and its facilities.
  • Identifies all activities involved supporting the needs of supply chain, including capital asset planning, lifecycle management of equipment, strategic sourcing of commodities such as clinical supplies, maintenance supplies and services, subsistence, medical gases, and durable medical equipment and services for inpatient and inpatient services home care.
  • Establishes, oversees, monitors, and manages the performance and measurement of Supply Chain support functions throughout the VISN.
  • Conducts Supply Chain audits, compliance reviews, and program effectiveness/efficiency reviews based on self- developed and nationally developed standards of all VISN facilities.
  • Establishes VISN policy to support National Policy, process guidance, and ensures best practices are disseminated formally and vocationally and implemented appropriately, utilizing continuous quality improvement principles and practices.
  • Oversees delegated purchasing authority within the purchase card program for all clinical supply and equipment items.
  • Manages the budget for their staff and supports budget forecasting/execution for all supply chain workforce assigned to their VISN.
  • Provides direct supervision to employees performing various duties supporting the Supply Chain Program throughout the VISN.
  • Work Schedule: Monday thru Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM; Work schedule subject to change based on agency needs.
  • Telework: This position may be authorized for telework.
