What You'll Do
- →If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team and serve as the Victim Witness Coordinator for the United States Attorney's Office (USAO), Northern District of Indiana.Typical work assignments will include: Serves as USAO victim and witness assistance technical subject matter expert.
- →Provides authoritative technical advice and guidance to other victim and witness assistance staff, USAO managers, Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSAs) and legal support staff.
- →Orients and trains new and/or developmental victim and witness assistance staff.
- →Facilitates their technical skill and knowledge development through on the job training and making recommendations to attend training sessions by Executive Office for U.S.
- →Attorneys (EOUSA) or other agencies.
- →Maintains program records, reports, and documents.
- →Develops statistical and quantitative reports and analyses of program activity.
- →Plans, designs, and coordinates the development and dissemination of information about the USAO program and local, state, and Federal victim witness and compensation programs.
- →Develops and delivers internal and external training about victim assistance laws, DOJ guidelines, USAO processes and available resources.
- →Develops and delivers community outreach briefings and presentations to promote interest in and support of the victim assistance program.
- →Remains current with legal aspects of victim and witness rights through ongoing research and annual training.
- →Analyzes changes in legislation, case law, court rules, DOJ policies and EOUSA guidance related to victim and witness assistance activities and makes required programmatic changes.
- →Assists AUSAs in locating victims and witnesses and assessing their ability to testify in court proceedings.
- →Provides in-court support to victims during and prior to hearings and trials.
