This position is located in the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Agricultural Research Service (ARS), Field Organization, Plains Area (PA), National Bio and Agro-Defense Facility (NBAF), Manhattan, KS. The incumbent will serve as a pathologist to devise and perform state of the art experiments examining transmission and pathogenesis of foreign animal diseases to domestic livestock and wildlife.
What You'll Do
- →Study the transmission, pathogenesis, virus-host interactions, hot immune responses, and epidemiology of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD), classical swine fever (CSF) and vesicular stomatitis virus (VS).
- →Carry out experiments of increased complexity, including hypothesis testing of multiple variables ad demonstrating creativity to understand the underlying molecular mechanisms of disease at the system, tissue, cellular and sub-cellular levels.
- →Present new scientific techniques for assessment of disease pathology caused by vesicular viruses to the scientific community.
- →Creates, develops, adapts or implements state-of-the-art techniques for evaluation of pathogenesis of FMD, CSF, and VS or other diseases under study at the FADRU in domestic livestock or wildlife species.
