About the Role
Employee will be assigned to the Office of the Chief, Environmental Management Service (EMS), VA Medical Center, Battle Creek, MI. The primary function of this position is responsible for the Quality Assurance orientation and the on-going training of all Environmental Management Service employees.
What You'll Do
- →***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** Duties include, but may not be limited to the following: Provides orientation of all newly hired EMS employees ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the service line's mission, vision, and established performance measures.
- →Ensures that all newly hired staff understands all established environmental management rules, regulations, and procedures regarding position expectations.
- →Serves as the primary educator for the entire service.
- →Plans, manages, implements, and directs an effective, on-going employee training program for the service.
- →Attends various seminars, academic presentation, classroom instructions, on and off the Medical Center grounds, and reads various professional publications on a regular basis.
- →Utilizes up-to-date information and visual aids to provide basic orientation to all new employees, organizational and procedural education, on-going in-service and refresher courses for established employees, and remedial training when needed.
- →Identifies training needs and develops training programs for all staff.
- →Makes recommendations and collaborates with the section supervisor to ensure that an established training program is completed.
- →Works with program managers and supervisors as well as the Chief, Environmental Management Service in the identification, development, and implementation of any potential training necessities required for each program, including on-going, training requirements to ensure program efficiencies are maintained.
- →Documents the completion of all training by EMS employees within the organization's Talent Management System (TMS).
- →Evaluates training and education outcomes to determine if required proficiencies have been achieved.
- →Identifies and reports performance issues or concerns to appropriate supervisors.
- →Develops training and education plans for staff placed under a Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) and gauges success of established plan in correcting identified inefficiencies as well as reporting progress to the employee's supervisor.
- →Schedules, plans, and develops training calendars with appropriate vendors.
