About the Role
Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Training and Development, located in: Glynco, GA (3) Artesia, NM (4) Charleston, SC (1) El Paso, TX (2) Los Indios, TX (1) Front Royal, VA (2) Harpers Ferry, WV (2) Additional selections may be made for other organizational divisions and/or units within the duty location(s) listed above.
What You'll Do
- →In this Training Specialist position with the Office of Training and Development, you will be responsible for developing and implementing programs that cultivate improvement through employee training and education initiatives and that aligns our workforce with our mission and key organizational strategies.
- →This position starts at a salary of $106,437.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $138,370.00 (GS-13, Step 10).
- →Major Duties: Leading the full lifecycle of complex training programs (designing, developing, implementing, and delivering) in support of CBP operational and law enforcement missions at the basic, intermediate, and advanced levels.
- →Planning, designing, and updating curricula, lesson plans, instructor guides, student materials, and multimedia/technology-enabled learning tools using adult learning principles and modern instructional methods (e.g., simulations, scenario-based exercises, blended learning).
- →Evaluating new and existing courses to determine effectiveness; analyzing performance data and operational feedback; revising content and methods to incorporate new policies, procedures, technologies, and best practices in a rapidly changing environment.
- →Researching and integrating newly emerging subject-matter into training; developing, administering, and scoring examinations; using assessment results to refine instruction, ensuring learning objectives are met, and supporting consistent, mission-ready performance.
- →Coordinating with headquarters and field offices, subject matter experts, contractors, and senior leaders to identify training needs, resolving complex training issues, leading special studies/projects, and formulating or recommending training policies and standards.
