THIS IS AN ARMY NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a TITLE 32 SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC SUPERVISOR (MI SMO - UTES), Position Description Number NGD1295000 and is part of the MI UTES, Michigan Army National Guard. MICHIGAN ARMY NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. What You'll Do
- →***THIS IS A TITLE 32 NATIONAL GUARD POSITION THAT REQUIRES MILITARY MEMBERSHIP*** This position is located in the Joint Forces Headquarters-State, Logistics Directorate (J-4), Surface Maintenance Facility.
- →The purpose of this position is to provide overall direction and coordination of subordinate work activities and functions.
- →Work operations involve scope, volume, and complexity that they are carried out by subordinate supervisors in two or more separate organizational segments or groups, and are controlled through one or more levels of supervision.
- →The occupation and non-supervisory grade level which best reflects the nature of the overall work operations supervised is Surface Maintenance Mechanic, WG-5801-10.
- →Planning: Plans on a quarterly or longer basis, the overall use of subordinate personnel and resources under their control.
- →Determines resource requirements, materials, the number of subordinates and the types of skill necessary to accomplish long-range work schedules.
- →Work Direction: Assigns and explains work requirements and operating instructions to subordinate supervisors, sets deadlines, and establishes the sequence of work operations to be followed.
- →Maintains balanced workloads by shifting assignments, workers, and other resources to achieve the most effective work operations.
- →Administrative: Assures that subordinate supervisors effectively carry out policies to achieve management objectives.
- →Recommends promotion or reassignment of subordinate supervisors, makes formal appraisals of their performance, and determines their training needs.
- →Develops, publishes, and ensures employee compliance with standing operating procedures for the activity supervised.
- →Implements and complies with agency, state, and federal regulatory Occupational Safety and Health, and environmental requirements.
- →Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises.
- →May be required to perform such additional duties as structural fire fighting, aircraft fire/crash/rescue duty, security guard, snow removal, munitions loading and handling, heavy equipment operation, maintenance of facilities and equipment, or to serve as a team member on boards to cope with natural disasters or civil emergencies.
