About the Role
The United States Attorney's Office for the Western District of Wisconsin is looking for a highly qualified attorney to fill a term position as an Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA) in its Criminal Division. The United States Attorney's Office for the Western District of Wisconsin is in Madison, Wisconsin. As needed, additional positions may be filled using this announcement.
What You'll Do
- →The AUSA hired for this position will primarily prosecute drug trafficking offenses, such as trafficking of fentanyl and its precursor chemicals.
- →Additionally, the AUSA will prosecute gang-related crimes involving aliens, child trafficking, human smuggling, and firearms offenses.
- →AUSAs write their own District and Appellate Court briefs.
- →Therefore, strong writing skills are required.
- →Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.
- →Security Requirements: Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory preemployment adjudication.
- →This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing.
- →In addition, continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.
- →Residency Requirements: Assistant United States Attorneys generally must reside in the district to which he or she is appointed or within 25 miles thereof.
