This position is located within the Forest Service's Chief Information Office (CIO).CIO manages IT infrastructure, applications, and information resources across the agency. The incumbent serves as agency expert in telecommunications, supporting key program areas and delivering customer-focused solutions that strengthen service-wide communication capabilities. What You'll Do
- →Manages the national Law Enforcement and Investigations land mobile radio (LMR) system, ensuring secure, reliable, and compliant communications capabilities for mission-critical operations.
- →Develops long-range programmatic strategies, policies, and technical guidance for sustaining and enhancing encrypted P25 law enforcement radio networks and multi-agency communication plans.
- →Coordinates multi-agency radio communication efforts, agreements, and resource-sharing to support nationwide law enforcement activities and interoperability requirements.
- →Analyzes complex LMR system performance, coverage, security, and operational needs to diagnose issues, optimize system configurations, and ensure adherence to information assurance policies.
- →Provides expert consultation to leadership and stakeholders on radio communications policy, system design, and enterprise-level telecommunications decisions affecting national law enforcement operations.
Requirements
- ✓Must be a U.S.
- ✓Citizen or National.
- ✓Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service or exempt.
- ✓Subject to satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check.
