About the Role
Employee will serve as a Technology Transfer Specialist within the Office of Research and Development (ORD) at the Veteran Affairs Medical Center in Chicago, IL.
What You'll Do
- →***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** Duties will include, but may not be limited to the following: Identifies potentially patentable inventions that result from work performed by ORD.
- →Develops and implements marketing plans to identify prospective industry development partners for employee-owned inventions.
- →Analyzes business practices and financials of prospective business partners; develops negotiating strategies of business terms, product development objectives and financial terms for the licensure of inventions and serves as primary negotiator.
- →Serves as liaison and communicates with regional academic affiliates technology transfer offices, compliance and agreements, commercialization efforts of jointly owned inventions/patents, and royalties received.
- →Develops and conducts educational programs relative to transfer technology issues, invention disclosures, patents, licensing, confidential information, and collaborative agreements.
- →Serves as the Research Conflict of Interest Administrator.
- →Reviews/advises investigators and administrators on conflict-of-interest matters, both domestic and foreign patent rights, policies, and procedures.
- →Participates and completes special projects as assigned.
- →Performs other related duties as necessary.

- →NOTE: This is a TERM appointment (not-to-exceed _4 years__).
