About the Role
THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION THAT REQUIRES MILITARY MEMBERSHIP. This National Guard position is for a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MANAGER, Position Description Number PDD1249000 and is part of the Mississippi National Guard.
What You'll Do
- →As a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MANAGER, GS-1601-13, you will serve as the Army National Guard (ARNG) Surface Maintenance Manager.
- →Provides management direction, control, and accountability for ARNG surface maintenance programs and activities.
- →These consist of, but are not limited to, the Combined Support Maintenance Shop (CSMS), Maneuver Area Training Equipment Site (MATES), Unit Training Equipment Site (UTES), and Field Maintenance Shops (FMS).
- →Work requires comprehensive managerial knowledge of the principles, concepts, and practices involving ARNG surface maintenance facilities, equipment, and services.
- →(1) Manages, directs, coordinates, and oversees the ARNG State Surface Maintenance program.
- →Determines goals and develop plans independently or jointly with higher management.
- →Contributes significantly to the determination of resource needs, allocation of resources, and is accountable for their effective use.
- →Makes or recommends organizational changes that have considerable impact, such as those involving basic structure, operating cost, and key positions.
- →Considers a broad spectrum of factors when making decisions (or recommendations to higher level management), including such matters as employee relations, labor-management relations, and the effect on other organizations.
- →Coordinates program efforts with other organizations or with National Guard Bureau (NGB) personnel.
- →Assesses the impact of the organization's programs on other organizations in the state.
- →Sets policy for the organization in such areas as determining program emphasis and operating guidelines.
- →Understands and communicates NGB policies and priorities throughout the organization managed.
- →Deals with human resources management policy matters affecting the entire organization, with personnel actions affecting key employees, or other staffing actions having significant impact.
Requirements
- ✓Military Grades: O5- O5 CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT & NOTES: 1.
- ✓Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position. 2.
- ✓This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968.
- ✓An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. 3.
- ✓Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission. 4.
- ✓May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours; overtime may be required. 5.
- ✓The duties and responsibilities of your job may significantly impact the environment.
- ✓You are responsible to maintain awareness of your environmental responsibilities as dictated by legal and regulatory requirements, your organization, and its changing mission. 6.
- ✓Wear of the military uniform is MANDATORY. 7.
- ✓Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. 8.
- ✓For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license.
