About the Role

Joining the Secret Service, Office of Protective Operations (OPO) will allow you to gain oversight of complex activities, including managing overall staffing for OPO and its divisions, performing complex analyses, justifying and defending new allocation requests, and maintaining the integrity and accuracy of staffing data and reports. What You'll Do

  • The selectee will serve as a Supervisory Staff Assistant in the Office of Protective Operations.
  • Typical work assignments include: Manages all staffing resources for the OPO Directorate, including recruitment, reassignments, promotions, position management and classification, staffing analysis, and personnel system management.
  • Ensures that authorized ceiling levels are accurately reflected and that protective divisions are properly structured, aligned, and staffed to support the number and type of protectees the Secret Service is mandated to protect.
  • Plans and schedules work to be accomplished and assign tasks both verbally and through various automated systems based on priorities, difficulty, requirements, and the capabilities of subordinates.
  • Adjust priorities as needed.
  • Approves or denies leave based on mission requirements.
  • Ensures timely and accurate responses to management and employee requests.
  • Develop standard operating procedures for the team and provide advice or instruction to employees, as needed, on both technical and administrative matters.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve processes and work quality and establishes deadlines and priorities for major missions.

  • This Supervisory Staff Assistant position starts at a salary of $143,913, GS-14 step 1 with potential to $187,093, GS-14 step 10.

Requirements

  • Citizenship is required.
  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service If selected for this position, you will be required to: Obtain and maintain a top-secret Tier 5 clearance.
