About the Role
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.
What You'll Do
- →This Supervisory Social Work position is in Geriatrics and Extended Care services at the VA Maine Healthcare System, Togus location.
- →This position is a full-time at 40 hours per week.
- →The purpose of this position is to serve as a Supervisory Social Worker (State Veterans Home Representative), GS-0185-13, within the Geriatrics ad Extended Care (GEC) Service Line at VA Maine Healthcare System.
- →The incumbent serves as the program coordinator and VA Medical Representative for the State Veterans Home Program and provides administrative, clinical, and programmatic oversight for assigned GEC specialty programs.
- →The incumbent is responsible for supervision of social work staff, program management, policy implementation, performance monitoring, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the delivery of high-quality services to Veterans.
- →Duties may include, but are not limited to: Serves as the VA Medical Representative and program coordinator for the State Veterans Home Program.
- →Provides administrative, technical, and clinical supervision to assigned social work staff within Geriatrics and Extended Care programs.
- →Coordinates staffing, work assignments, workload distribution, and program operations to ensure effective service delivery.
- →Develops, implements, and monitors policies, procedures, and program initiatives in support of organizational goals and quality Veteran care.
- →Collaborates with State Veterans Home administrators, community partners, VISN staff, and VA Central Office representatives regarding program operations, compliance requirements, and Veteran services.
- →Oversees program evaluation activities, monitors performance measures, analyzes data, and prepares required reports and documentation.
- →Participates in recruitment, interviewing, onboarding, training, mentoring, and performance management of social work staff.
- →Provides consultation, education, and guidance regarding State Veterans Home eligibility, benefits, services, and program requirements.
- →Monitors compliance with VHA directives, accreditation standards, licensure requirements, and professional social work practice standards.

- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
