About the Role
This is a Temporary Promotion/Detail Not to exceed 1 year, may be terminated early, extended, or made permanent based on agency needs. This Supervisory Program Manager (Regional Director) position is open to all current Employment and Training Administration (ETA) employees serving on a career or career conditional appointment. This position is located under the United States Department of Labor (DOL), Employment and Training Administration, Dallas, TX Regional Office.
What You'll Do
- →Duties for this position include: Manages and directs the work of one or more unit(s)/Division(s).
- →Develops robust recruitment strategies; interviews and selects candidates for vacancies and initiates other personnel actions; establishes performance standards, evaluates performance, and rates subordinate supervisors and employees; initiates disciplinary measures and adverse actions as needed; and supports EEO action plans and objectives.
- →Creates a work environment that encourages and rewards innovative thinking and problem resolution, formal and informal development of staff, and fairness in recognizing and encouraging opportunities for performance awards, professional development, and general assessment of staff needs and capabilities.
- →Brings together the staff resources of the unit(s)/Division(s) to facilitate the exchange of information.
- →Ensures that staff are knowledgeable of the annual performance metrics, and ensures that products are delivered and deadlines are met; closely tracks program performance goals and prepares suggestions for mid-course corrections.
- →Develops and recommends short- and long-range program plans, taking into consideration management objectives; provides strategic planning, policy development, program operations, and performance accountability for the development and administration of the national workforce development system.
- →Communicates work priorities to staff.
- →Effectively represents the Department, Agency, and Regional Office internally and externally and communicates Department and Agency priorities.
- →Coordinates the resolution of issues and implementation of action plans as appropriate, ensuring that all unit/Division efforts are strategically aligned in furtherance of developing an effective workforce development system that benefits America's workers and employers.
- →Advises Regional Administrator on significant compliance issues with grantees, and assists in the development of technical assistance to address those compliance issues.
- →Oversees the assessment of grantee data; ensures timely and responsive technical and compliance assistance and monitoring and oversight using ETA-wide risk analysis techniques and tools that identify grantees at greatest risk.
