About the Role

The incumbent is the Director for the Center for Strategic Analytics and Reporting (CSAR). This senior position is located in the Office of Analytics and Performance Integration (API) within the Office of Quality and Patient Safety (QPS), Veterans Health Administration (VHA).

What You'll Do

  • The CSAR is a component of API with national-level responsibilities for healthcare data analysis and reporting in VA/VHA.
  • API utilizes the many interdependent data systems and applications across VHA to generate insights into health system performance and to provide VHA clinicians, managers, and leaders with timely, accurate information needed for improving the care of Veterans.
  • Represents on national workgroups, Congressional briefings and interagency meetings.
  • Leads and facilitates cross-functional working groups, ad hoc task forces and stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Directly supervises a dispersed team of GS-12 through GS-14.
  • Directs the daily operations and analytical development activities of three CSAR program teams.
  • Performs analysis of the economic impact, feasibility, practically and effectiveness of existing and proposed VHA standards, regulations, programs and policies related to healthcare data management.
  • Serves as a liaison to national workgroups, special studies and taskforce activities.
  • Works across the organization with VACO program offices, VISNs, CMS, DoD, and academic partners to develop and propose data collection, analysis, and reporting approaches.
  • Oversees the development and refinement of analytical models and metrics - including SAIL domains and benchmarking methodology, risk stratification systems, Statistical Process Control trigger systems, Post-Acute Care Patient Safety Metrics, and Rare Event Monitor systems.
  • Serves as an agency expert on the analytical performance monitoring of national healthcare programs, developing and overseeing data collection and analysis plans.
  • Develops and oversees program-level performance monitoring plans for CSAR operations.
  • This is a non-bargaining position.
  • Work Schedule: 8:00am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday.
