This position is organizationally aligned to the Education Service, at the Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital (578), Hines, IL - a complexity level 1a VHA facility. The primary purpose of this position is to provide program analysis work in support of daily operations, which include identifying and resolving a full range of administrative and personnel concerns affecting the Education Service.
What You'll Do

- →Major Duties Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities.
- →Advises and provides counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of management.
- →Selects or recommends selection of candidates for vacancies, promotions, details, and reassignments in consideration of skills and qualifications, mission requirements, and EEO and diversity objectives.
- →Develops, modifies, and/or interprets performance standards.
- →Explains performance expectations to employees and provides regular feedback on strengths and weaknesses.
- →Holds employees accountable for satisfactory completion of work assignments.
- →Appraises the subordinate worker's performance ensuring consistency and equity in rating techniques.
- →Recommends awards when appropriate and approves within-grade increases.
- →Analyzes and evaluates, on a quantitative or qualitative basis, the effectiveness of programs or operations in meeting established goals and objectives.
- →Analyzes and prepares program status reports for review at all levels.
- →Performs analytical and evaluative work associated with program activities.
- →Incumbent plans, develops, administers, and supervises policies, procedures and programs to efficiently and better accomplish the mission of the service at the Hospital.
- →Coordinates the preparation of all recurring and nonrecurring reports as required for VA Headquarters, and VISN12, quality improvement plan, JCAHO, CDR, CMR, financial/budget, ILL/copyright, service contracts, yearly journal purchases, and is the service's Collateral Duty Safety Officer.
