About the Role

The Supervisory Program Analyst position is under the Performance Monitoring Staff in Compensation Service. The incumbent will supervise subordinate staff and employee's work relating to the specification, testing, evaluation and deployment of innovation processes and integrated solutions. The incumbent leads or participates in the conduct of comprehensive program studies related to VA benefits and services and makes recommendations for program changes based on study results.

What You'll Do

  • Specific duties include: Provides counsel, advice, and instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters.
  • Hears and resolves minor complaints to higher level supervisor or manager; effects minor disciplinary measures such as warnings and reprimands and recommends action in more serious cases.
  • Interviews candidates for positions in the unit; recommends appointments, promotions, and reassignments to unit positions; identifies and provides for training needs; and finds ways to improve production or increase the quality of work within the area of authority.
  • Carries out Equal Employment Opportunity policies and program activities.
  • Leads or participates in the conduct of comprehensive program studies related to VA benefits and services; and makes recommendations after consultation from direct supervisor for program changes based on study results.
  • Provides advice and assistance relative to the input for the design of the modernized automated information systems; implementation of which will enhance VBA's claims and benefits services provided to veterans, their dependents and their survivors.
  • Coordinates goals, priorities, staff resources, productivity, quality and general activities with higher-level management.
  • Ensures application of appropriate problem-solving methods and techniques.
  • Provides guidance on work methods, practices and procedures.
  • Assesses resource and workload issues and promptly identifies issues requiring outside intervention.
  • Performs program management and analysis tasks and keeps assigned activities on track at all phases.
  • Develops effective and efficient internal management controls and administrative processes to effectuate the resolution of problematic issues.
  • Ensures that project objectives and timelines are being met by monitoring progress against a formal plan; establishes project milestones and target dates, or intermediated dates on projects when completion dates are mandated by higher authority.
  • Works with subordinate staff to provide advice to and complete.
