About the Role
This position is located at the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Agricultural Research Services (ARS), National Bio And Agro-Defense Facility located in Manhattan, KS. In this position, you will be conducting research and developing vaccines and other countermeasures, as well as training veterinarians and other scientists in preparedness and response to disease outbreaks.
What You'll Do
- →Provides scientific oversight for the development, production, and testing of vaccines and biological products for use in all animals.
- →Serves as the lead scientist in ensuring the acquisition, maintenance and modification of equipment required for the complex process and analytical development techniques required.
- →Plans, directs, and coordinates for the early development of vaccines, diagnostics and biotherapeutics.
- →Oversees the day-to-day operation of the BDM by providing oversight of technical direction to personnel, tracking expenses and handling client inquiries.
- →Provides technical direction in the formulation and execution of programs and policies related to BDM operations including veterinary countermeasures development.
- →Oversee the work of 3 major BDM teams: Process/Formulation; Bioassay and Clinical Development; and Master Seed/Cell Production/Banking.
Requirements
- ✓You must be a US Citizen or US National.
- ✓Males born after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt.
