What You'll Do
- →As a Supervisory Meteorologist, you will perform the following duties: Serve as the Chief of the Science Branch, providing leadership, management, aviation, and meteorological expertise to the Aircraft Operations Center (AOC).
- →Provide technical and administrative supervision and management of personnel and fiscal resources of the Science Branch.
- →Provide resource planning and produce reports that address questions and field activities.
- →Make decisions on work problems while interfacing with supervisors from other departments.
- →Perform flight duties as a NOAA Air Crewmember during convective systems.
- →Oversee meteorological support, data processing, and scientific analysis for AOC programs and projects.
- →Acquire, process, store, and make available a wide variety of meteorological data for developing and testing techniques to improve operational weather forecasting services.
- →Manage, operate, maintain and upgrade meteorological sensors, computers, networks, and associated software.
- →Identify and track issues related to data assimilation, quality control, and archiving.
- →Provide the full range of supervisory support services for staff.
- →Evaluate and develop performance and provide instruction to employees on work and administrative matters.
- →Interview candidates and make or approve selections for subordinate positions.
- →Make decisions on training needs and requests related to employees of the branch.
- →Conditions of Employment: Performs the duties of this position, and those of a NOAA Air Crewmember during convective systems, mission flights and is Drug Testing Designated.
Requirements
- ✓This position will be filled under the DOC Alternative Personnel System (CAPS).
- ✓Under CAPS, positions are classified by career, pay plan, and pay band.
- ✓The ZP-4 is equivalent to the GS-13/14.
- ✓Key Requirements: Applicants must be U.S.
- ✓Suitable for Federal employment, as determined by background investigation.
