About the Role
The Supervisory Medical Support Assistant, assigned to an Inpatient ward or community living center, for the Health Administration Service at the W.G. Hefner VA Medical Center, Salisbury, NC, and provides a high level of administrative and data support to the HAS, to include the Community Based Outpatient Clinics. The Supervisory Medical Support Assistant is a foundational role within the Inpatient wards and CLC, at Salisbury VAMC, Community Based Outpatient Clinics and Health Care Centers.
What You'll Do
- →Duties include but are not limited to: Responsible to their supervisor for ensuring that the work assignments of the section are carried out by performing a range of duties/functions and must be considered an expert in the functions of GS-6 MSA and a GS-7 Lead MSA.
- →Adapt to varying situations that are present in an Inpatient Clinic setting as well as be willing to learn new technologies, procedures, and policies.
- →Demonstrate technical competency and expertise in the use of the Vista, CPRS and My HealtheVet/Secure Messaging systems.
- →Expert in basic administrative policies and procedures dealing with inpatient admissions, transfers and post discharge patient scheduling or other administrative topics.
- →Thorough knowledge of the Outpatient Scheduling processes defined in the VHA Directive 1230 VHA Outpatient Scheduling Management and all scheduling policies and procedures derived from policies/procedures at the Salisbury VAMC.
- →Abides by federal privacy and confidentiality regulations and exhibit ethical conduct all times.
- →Employee must complete and adhere to necessary annual VHA training requirements.
- →He/she has a key role in the VHA Network Performance Measures for Revenue, Customer Service, Access to Care, and overall quality of healthcare delivery.
- →Distributes and balances the workload among employees in accordance with established workflow or job specialization, assure timely accomplishment of the assigned workload, ensure the workload is completed in accordance with facility and/or national performance measures and assure that each employee has enough work to keep them busy.
- →Ensures all deadlines are met based on the stated deadline.
- →Develops internal policies and procedures for the clinics they are assigned.
- →These internal policies must not violate HAS, medical center, or VHA directives, policies, procedures, and regulations.
- →Develops and disseminates information material to a wide range of stakeholders.
- →Serves as the subject matter expert (SME) for all duties within the Inpatient Administrative Support Section at the Salisbury VA Medical Center (SBYVAMC).
