About the Role
The Bureau of Labor Statistics measures labor market activity, working conditions, price changes, and productivity in the U.S. economy to support public and private decision making. This position is located in the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Office of Prices and Living Conditions.
What You'll Do
- →Duties include but are not limited to: Lead the planning, development, direction, and evaluation of statistical activities in OPLC price programs.
- →Determine optimal application of mathematical statistical techniques.
- →Conduct and oversee survey design, sample selection, estimation, and validation work.
- →Address advanced and complex statistical problems.
- →Set branch goals, develop resource requirements, and establish statistical policy.
- →Provide authoritative consultation and technical guidance to Office of Prices and Living Conditions (OPLC) leadership and staff.
- →Develop and refine sampling frames and probability sampling methods.
- →Evaluate survey quality and research methods to improve accuracy of published estimates.
- →Implement methods to reduce nonsampling error across survey processes.
- →Direct and supervise professional, technical, and clerical staff, including staffing actions and compliance responsibilities.
