About the Role

About the Position: As the Joint Logistics Operations Center (JLOC) Chief within the USSOUTHCOM J4 Logistics Operations Division, the incumbent provides authoritative advice on planning and executing comprehensive logistics programs-including equipment, supplies, medical, engineering, contracting, and personnel support-across the 31 nations and 16 territories of the Latin America and Caribbean Area of Responsibility (AOR).

What You'll Do

  • Serves as the Joint Logistics Operations Center (JLOC) Chief, providing authoritative advice for the planning, development, and execution of logistics programs involving equipment, supplies, medical, engineering, and contracting support.
  • Analyzes and evaluates the effectiveness and efficiency of logistics support during contingency operations and exercises, resolving specific problems as required.
  • Develops and provides logistics input and staff advice on higher-echelon policies, procedures, and directives to ensure integration with interagency and international partners.
  • Identifies, monitors, and synchronizes all aspects of deployment, distribution, and sustainment across the Joint Logistics Enterprise (JLEnt), including coordination with DLA and USTRANSCOM.
  • Develops written staff products such as OPLANs, CONPLANs, and decision briefs for senior leadership on program status, accomplishments, and requirements.
  • Leads and participates in the planning and execution of major USSOUTHCOM exercises such as PANAMAX, TRADEWINDS, and FUSED RESPONSE.
  • Evaluates logistical plans for feasibility and efficiency, particularly in support of Humanitarian Assistance/Disaster Relief (HA/DR) operations.
  • Directs, coordinates, and oversees the work of the branch, formulating program goals, setting priorities, and ensuring the effective use of staff experience and abilities.
  • Oversees the career development of assigned personnel, explains performance expectations, and promotes a culture of dignity, respect, and inclusivity.
