This position is located in the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Ocean Service (NOS), with vacancies in Oxford, Maryland; Silver Spring, Maryland; Beaufort, North Carolina; and Charleston, South Carolina. .
What You'll Do
- →As a Supervisory IT Specialist, you will perform the following duties: Provide oversight of the overall planning, direction, and timely execution of the National Ocean Service's (NOS), National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science (NCCOS), Information Technology (IT) Program.
- →Coordinate the strategic development of multi-year and long- range plans and objectives for network security, IT procedures analysis, and application and requirements analysis.
- →Oversee project management leading to the testing and implementation of network systems, network architectures and IT security.
- →Evaluate and define infrastructure software and hardware component requirements.
- →Manage the development of policy changes in response to allocation appropriations and legislative changes.
- →Perform a full range of supervisory functions, including developing and evaluating performance standards, giving advice, counsel, or instruction to employees.
- →Make or approve selections for subordinate positions and identify training needs.
- →This position will be filled under the DOC Alternative Personnel System (CAPS).
- →Under CAPS, positions are classified by career, pay plan, and pay band.
- →The ZP-5 is equivalent to the GS-15.

- ✓This position requires High Risk Security Clearance.
- ✓Background investigation will be required.
- ✓Continued employment is subject to applicant's successful completion of security investigation and favorable adjudication.
- ✓Failure to successfully meet these requirements will be grounds for termination.
